Round 1 - Cats tame the Lions ...
I'm not sure if taking my digital camera to the footy and reporting on each game will be a weekly fixture, but here goes. Yesterday was April 1, but the only fools at Kardinia Park (I still refuse to call it Skilled Stadium) were the umpires who looked like martians in their green uniforms and Geelong's once almighty opponent, the Brisbane Lions. It's hard to imagine that this was (sort of) the same team who appeared in four consecutive grand finals, winning three of them, not too long ago.
"Geelong slaughters Lions" was the headline in the esteemed broadsheet and the final score was Geelong 17.13 (115) to the Lions' 5.8 (38). It was an awesome display that saw the Cats take advantage of the wind and their trust in each other to seal the win by halftime in this man's humble opinion.
Poppa Blog and I took up our seats in Bay 1 of the new Hickey Stand (the old Hickey Stand is now the Doug Wade Stand, go figure) and, weatherwise, it was a typical winter's day in G-Town. Rain, wind and the occasional burst of sun through otherwise grey skies. While the other JB, Jimmy Bartel, surely would have secured Brownlow votes, my dad (who your remember from Christmas) was also best-on-ground for bringing the Thermos filled with spicy tomato soup, some cheese and bacon rolls as well as a big pack of Smith's chicken chips, which were mainly devoured by yours truly well before three-quarter time. They were washed down by a few plastic pots of Carlton Draught bought at the bar for $5 each.
Next week, it's back to K-Park to play the Kangaroos. Hopefully, the spicy tomato soup and a Geelong victory will again be on tap. I might see Blackie, my old primary and high school buddy there. We caught up yesterday and were both very pleased by the final result.

THE MIGHT CATS
Well, the old Kardinia Park would have been going off with the Cats flying high!!!
The thing we come to miss can be the simple beauty of the Cats stomping the Lions and not being there to give it to Joel. Last time I saw these teams go head to head was 2004 finals MCG with JB and Davis, and I'm sad to say we were on the losing side.
Let’s hope this is a sign of the year ahead.

The Demons? C'mon! They lost to Carlton!
Yes, Slugg K-Park was really rocking! Indeed, let's hope that this a sign of the year ahead.

MEET THE PRESS
I reference to JB's article on the 2nd April 'Round 1 - Cats tame the Lions ...', he states 'surely would have secured Brownlow votes, my dad (pictured here in his blog debut) was also best-on-ground for bringing'.
However, I would like to reference a previous article dated the 27th December 2005, 'Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good night ...', where a photo of Poppa Blog is displayed.
This clear mistake must be rectified and apology send out to those affect by the clear mistake.
Regards

Dear Concerned Reader aka Slugg,
Thanks for your input. The changes, rather than the decision, has been made.
Six comments? Must be some sort of record!

TO THE MASTER OF THE MUSIC
Not trying to teach your grandmother however to suck eggs or anything, but have you heard/know Futher Seems Forever????
Think you and Davis might like these guys.

Always interested in the way you Aussies/Brits have some many food and drink products with someone's name on them. "Smith's" "Carlton's" etc.

Slugger,
I think I told you this before, but Further Seems Forever was the platform for Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba. I have their first album "The Moon Is Down" and when you get back I can burn it for you. Haven't followed them now that they have that new guy (Jason?) on vocals.

How strange of you ossis to write about football a lot of the time. It is a strange world in which we live and I feel that it is strange also that Danish people play football. How strange it is that you look like your "Poppa Blog" or so you call him. You both have nice ears.

What sort of fruit loop is that? Do they realise that there are other words they could use instead of "strange"? Try "peculiar" "weird" "bizzare" just to name a few. Invest in a thesaurus you numbskull.
